Education Keeps the Ideas Flowing
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the PR News Digital Marketing Summit in beautiful, sunny San Francisco. The conference featured amazing speakers such as Whitney Curry, Senior Marketing Manager for Zillow, Rachel Horwitz, Senior Manager for Communications for Twitter, Maria Saltz, Senior Manager for Social Media Analytics for Adobe, and Chris Dale, Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Google Glass.
The opportunity to hear from respected veterans of the marketing and public relations field is something that helps keep my inspiration flowing and my enthusiasm to learn and grow on the rise. And the best part is being able to turn around and share the amazing things I learned with my all of you!
Every single person you meet knows something you don't know - so I always embrace the fact that there is always more to learn and I soak up information like a sponge.
A quote that was shared with us by Audie Chamberlain, Director of Social Media Marketing for Realtor.com, really stuck with me following the conference:
"The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn." -Alvin Toffler
This could not be more true - especially in the field of marketing and design. Technology and marketing best practices are constantly changing, so professionals who are not keeping pace with the changing tide are not going to be well suited to assist you with your marketing and design needs.
An investment in your education is the smartest one you can make. You can lose a lot of valuable things in your lifetime - relationships, jobs, but one thing you can never lose is your knowledge.
